In the Macarthur there are fortunately still many wonderful compassionate and caring community minded corporate citizens willing to support worthwhile causes including ours. REPLENISH Day Spa in Camden is one such business. A couple of years ago I met Tony and Catriona as they talked about their ideas to open Replenish Day Spa in Camden, well before I worked at MDS and before they even had opened the doors they told me of their charter as an organisation to have community spirit and their wish to be involved in supporting the community including people with a disability. Their bold and exciting business plan from the start envisioned Giving as part of their philosophy and mission statement. Giving back to a community, giving alms to the poor, giving a helping hand! I love the idea of personal and corporate giving.

Today the staff at REPLENISH opened the doors to our clients for a beautiful day of sharing and pampering. The shared experiences break down barriers and educate. The smiles and excitement generated during this shared experience truly was infectious and amazing. “This has been so exciting, I just can’t believe how much I’ve enjoyed this” came not from the guys getting the pampering but from Tony Clayton the guy giving us the pampering! REPLENISH gave a whole day of massages and treatments and special gifts to many of our service participants, and gift vouchers for many carers and MDS staff to enjoy some massage or relaxation at a later date. This was a day of learning and disability awareness training and a day of pampering for our clients.

Dominique from Oxley House sent me an email the minute she got back “The service participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and have already been asking me when they can go back :)”and I just smiled thinking about the way Mel and Caroline, who I know, were enjoying the special treatment. Jody at Miller kindly let us know how she appreciated the day too “THANK YOU for a fantastic day @ the day spa and all the organising that went into a well deserved relaxing day for our service participants. Not only them but their families were over the moon with the kind gesture. The guys have been relaxed all afternoon and in peaceful spirits. The Replenish staff were very welcoming and keen to do anything to help, which made the day even more enjoyable.” That is so fantastic!!

I can’t thank the REPLENISH TEAM, Catriona, Romaine, Melinda, Monique, Samantha, Abbey, Logan and Tony, enough! I also want to thank Paul & Arthur at MDS for taking this and making it all happen including the help of Carmelina with a great design for the day. The frangipani of disability is a very stylish design in harmony with Replenish resplendent with Wheelchair wheel motif and the subtle simplicity of the beautiful frangipani flower. You will see this design again in the future…Just like the organic nature of Tony and Catriona’s idea grew into something beautiful that MDS watered and blossomed with the help of our Clients, I’m sure this little day of giving will grow into something more.

I’d just like to mention the guys at Replenish did not request any of this write up or newspapers or website stuff but I believe when you give and don’t ask to receive, or give without contemplating what you’ll get in return you really deserve to receive a big fat lot of love or a heap of justifiably good promotion! If you get a chance please support this small business that has lavished thousands of dollars worth of support on our people and thank them again and again.
