OFFICIAL LAUNCH - PRESS RELEASE
MDS Opens new training centre

The Honourable Pat Farmer MP launched the MDS Training Centre on Thursday 22nd November, 2007.  The training centre was established in partnership with Equalis, a registered training organisation.  The training centre will deliver a range of nationally accredited courses in the Macarthur Area each designed to provide cost effective and quality workplace training.

This event was held at the newly opened Rydges Hotel in Campbelltown.  Over sixty guests from both government and non-government organisations and local members of parliament were in attendance.   The team from Equalis travelled down from Port Macquarie to support MDS staff during the launch.

Anne Thorn, General Manager of MDS said that “this innovative new training centre will focus on workplace training in the community in a way that is efficient and cost effective for employers.   Certificate courses in training and assessment, disability services, aged care and community services will be offered. The centre will provide flexible training giving participants options such as face to face tutorials, distance education, e-learning or a mixture of all three.”

Kylie Georgeson, MDS Training Centre Coordinator said that “the training centre can offer VETAB accredited courses such as Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate III in Home and Community Care, Certificate IV in Youth Work and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. There are also a large number of specialised short courses on offer”.
