This annual event sees teams of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders (50 years+) from across the South West Sydney region come together for a day of friendly competition and celebration of healthy living.

The cultural event raises awareness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Teams engage in sporting activities (including Traditional Indigenous Games) which promote healthy lifestyles and wellbeing, provide opportunities for engagement in social activities and develop ongoing networks.

The 2020 Elders Olympics was held on Friday 13th March at the Wollondilly Leisure Centre. The event had 110 Elders participating and a crowd of 210 spectating.

Hearing Australia and Vision Australia attended the event once again in conjunction with Seniors Rights Service and Diabetes Australia and provided free hearing & vision testing as well as Diabetes information and senior’s rights advice to all attendees.

It was a day filled with cheering and competition, with 8 teams vying for the coverted 1st place. However, there could only be one winner and the champions who pulled through to earn bragging rights for 2020 were Tharawal Purple! They were closely followed by Budyari in 2nd place and Maramuli Blue in 3rd place. Congratulations!
