MDS has been offering Employment Preparation programs in the Macarthur area for over 20 years. With that many years of experience, comes the knowledge & resources to tailor programs to suit the individual needs of each participant. MDS offers all NDIS core Employment Preparation and SLES (School Leaver Employment Supports) training components encompassing interpersonal skills, job specific training, soft skills, travel training and work experience, mixed in with friendship development & confidence building.
In addition; MDS also recognises the importance of accredited training and have therefore designed a 6-month short course in Employability Skills. This accredited training is a unique offering that we have at our SLES/Employment Prep program, which you won’t find anywhere else. Upon completion of the course, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment in:
- HLTWHS002 – Follow Safe Work Practices
- HLTWHA006 – Manage Personal Stressors in the Work Environment
- CHCDIV001 – Work with Diverse People
- BSBCMM101 – Apply Basic Communication Skills
- BSBCUS402 – Address Customer Needs
We also understand the benefits of real life learning and because of this we put a huge emphasis on providing exciting work experience opportunities for our participants. On average each participant completes three (6 week) work experience stints per year. In the last 12 months our participants have completed work experience stints at Streets Ice-cream, Fit HQ, Eckersley’s Art Store, Wests Leagues Club, Rydges Hotels, Brian Cummins Manufacturers, Bar Centrale Café, Just In Sign Writers & the South Western Sydney Recovery College, just to name a few. Three of our participants were offered permanent employment opportunities (at that business) during the course of their work experience stint.
In addition our Employment Prep/SLES program has resulted in some other amazing employment outcomes. Previous participants have secured employment as a Veterinary Nurse, Administration Officer, Panel Beater, Apprentice Mechanic, Garden Maintenance Officer, Customer Service Representative, Manufacturing Apprentice & a florist.
